2019 OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY PARTNER

Delta Sigma Theta – We are very fortunate to have gained the support of this incredible organization. Our largest community outreach in the York County area is our Back2School Block Party. By providing free book bags and school supplies to priority families in our community, we also have the opportunity to provide free screenings and materials to reinforce our message of heart health for the entire family.  In addition to volunteering on the planning committee and at the event, this incredible group of women and provided free school supplies for more than 1,500 students!  Accepting on behalf of the organization was Tiffany Huggins and Marilyn Martin.

2019 HEROES WITH HEART AWARD RECIPIENT

Nancy Todd – There are some volunteers who possess the wonderful gift of hospitality. This is especially true of Nancy Todd who has volunteered with our organization since our beginning. Nancy’s commitment and support has been an incredible gift to our local community. Her continued encouragement and support of our mission has been a tremendous asset to us.

2019 HEROES WITH HEART AWARD RECIPIENT

Serena Williams - Rock Hill School District 3

Betsy Hossenlopp, RN – When we began our Statewide Screening Day campaign in 2015, we quickly acquired an incredible champion at the State House in Columbia.  In addition to her long-term service as the Senate Nurse, she has been an invaluable asset in coordinating, promoting and hosting our annual heart health education and screening event at the capital during Heart Month. This year’s Statewide Screening Day is scheduled for Thursday, February 21.  (Pictured with Betsy was Mayor Bob Coble – mayor of Columbia for 20 years – and she saved his life during a cardiac event at the State House in 2016.)
